Vendee globe game polars
But these conditions to come are quite different for Virtual Regatta players and for sailors…. What makes the big difference between solitaires and players is that Virtual Regatta does not take into account, nor the state of the sea, nor the currents. But the same will certainly not be the case for browsers.
PS: Maybe I'll enter the race in a stealth boat just to see at times how you guys are doing Two high class races at the same time is great, but two virtual race will kill more time than I got. We did the virtual BWR - 90 days in front of the pc, Christmas, New Year, Easter and than real sailing will be back, no thanks, I got a live beside my pc It starts at 1pm French time, I believe countdown from the main game site. At least on this race we don't have to go through Gibraltar.
Just head out into the ocean and GO. Thus far, it seems like there's a lot less to the game as far as the "groups" concept. Maybe they are serious about the "alone" part of this race. No teams allowed? I think that the game designers have been putting most of their efforts into the VOR game, so I'm not expecting much.
I, too, have an actual life, and I figure that checking up on my boat a few times a day is no big deal. And if I go away for the weekend it's not a problem. I'm not expecting to win, just finish in the top 25 percent due to my strategic planning, not compulsive boat-tweaking. Speedwatch: You nearly won the BWR game, and I know that you hardly slept for 90 days - I don't advise doing that again.
You'll have the hand on your virtual boat when the start'll be given tomorrow a 1. Even if you can't be there your boat'll take the start of the race and you'll be able to to steer it in good position few hours later. Anyone seen polars for the open 60's? Let's face it: Polars for Open 60's are probably closely held secrets.
But since this is a game, we have no idea what we'll get - they might be just as bad as the VOR Game Leg1 polars "bad" according to various complainers - I just sailed as fast as I could almost all the time - that's my strategy in a nutshell.
Liveskipper Open 60 Polars. Click on the "Imoca 60 Polar Spread Sheet here" link to download a massive excel spreadsheet that I've never bothered to figure out. Check the tabs at the bottom to get to the intro and English translation. There is also a tab to show the polar diagrams they use for different TWS. NOTE: There is no reason to believe that the other games' polars will have anything to do with this game Keep a good lookout for the Schooner Anne in the south Pacific.
It would suck to hit the cheese barge at 20 knts. These are tender machines. Im using the FREE pro sails "i bought ". Yup, you're st.
I still can't start. Maybe someone can do a search for me and see wtf I look like from another screen. And, no, I'm not going to search the VOR game thread for your boat name. In fact, I may have missed it in this thread. And meanwhile, over at the VOR, I've been doing The game's definately screwed right now. I've been going for over an hour and haven't moved. The 4th place boat is at 0 kts and still at the start, must be a French boat.
I think its made to confuse a none French speaking sailors! After getting stopped by a new wind update in the VOR game, I discovered that I had to change direction FIRST by clicking the "validate" button to a direction that actually had velocity, then it let me change my sail. After that I changed direction again to what I actually wanted. As you can see my player screen shows 20 knots.

StayinStrewn 0 Posted November 15, Can anyone explain? Is this real data or is someone from VR pulling my tiller? This must be a VR glitch - see model from Vendee Archived This topic is now archived and is closed to further replies. I eagerly await each new version to see what clever feature has been added and for the price having this valuable app in your navigation toolkit is a no- brainer.
Grant C. We strive to create apps that facilitate the preparation of your sailing trips or races. Our goal is that, once at sea, you can sail better, faster and safer. We seek to make effective no-frills apps. As Marine Weather Forecast is the basis of every good preparation, we started by publishing SailGrib: an app that allows you to get weather grib files from different sources while on earth or at sea.
We then added a tidal module such that with a glance, you get the essential parameters of your sailing trip. A Weather Routing software is an incredible tool to optimize sailing routes for the safety of navigation.
The next step was to add Navigation modules. Real time performance data are now calculated, AIS targets are displayed and an alarm is raised in case of danger. We are proud of the accomplishment and the feedback from our growing user community pushes us to continue the development of the apps…. I have been sailing since the age of 5 on pretty much anything that floats.
