New ssx tricky game
SSX Tricky turns 20 this year. The iconic PlayStation 2 snowboard game has long been considered one of the most popular extreme sports games on the market, and fans have been clamoring for an official remake for years. The good news is that Steve Rechtschaffner, who worked as executive producer on the first three SSX games, is working on a brand new arcade-based sports game that will share some DNA with the classic franchise.
Speaking to Laptop Mag, Rechtschaffner said the upcoming game has a working title called Project Gravity. Expect a ton of modern elements like the same kind of silky smooth arcade snowboarding you remember, as well as more social features and trail building. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 , much like the SSX reboot, lacked the charms that made the series great and simply drove fans of the original games away. Luckily, the rise of remastered collections have given these franchise a second chance.
It it sells well, it could prove there is still a market for action sports games. While SSX 3's remaster was a success, there doesn't seem to be any plans for a follow-up game in the works, although that doesn't mean there isn't still hope.
I have contemplated what it would mean, whether to remaster or even reboot the series. You're beholden to the expectations that people had from a long time ago. I easily think they could remaster [SSX] Tricky but there would be a tonne of work to be able to have live head-to-head competition and gameplay - just because the game wasn't architected that way. This doesn't mean that a remastered version of SSX Tricky is on the way, but it is encouraging to see one of the game's creators speak highly of a potential remastered version.
It's been 19 years since the release of SSX Tricky , so perhaps EA will plan something for the games 20th anniversary. While there were tricks in SSX, the sequel as the name Tricky suggests pushed them to the forefront.
These gravity-defying stunts were brilliantly animated and ridiculously over the top. Brody would grab his board in mid-air, hold it out in front of him, and spin it like a helicopter rotor.
Luther could perform a mid-air backflip and belly flop on his. Eloise could grab hers and strike a yoga crab pose. It's all very silly, but that's SSX Tricky through and through. SSX Tricky is also a wonderful snapshot of the early s. This was a period when celebrity actors playing characters in video games was becoming a trend, and Tricky's cast is very much of the time, with appearances from Billy Zane, Macy Gray, Jim Rose, David Arquette, and Lucy Liu.
